Hi everyone.
Not sure if this is the right forum but . . .
When I purchased my new Dell computer it came with Roxio Creator Premier (version 9) which I was hoping would help me transfer my old 8mm and VHS tapes to DVD.
Being an older model camcorder I picked up a Dazzle (DVC170) device to take in the analog signal and have it go into a USB port on my computer (using the RCA jacks and not the S-Video port). When I try to capture video, I'm able to select the Dazzle DVC170 device but when I do, I get an error message saying "Select video device failed". On some other FAQ site I read that I should disable the ehRecvr process which I did but still had the same problem.
As an alternative I installed the Pinnacle software that came with the Dazzle device. It recognizes the device and I was able to capture the video so I know the Dazzle device is working OK (I stopped using the Pinnacle software when it repeatedly couldn't render my "movie" to a DVD - that's another story).
Being new to this, I'm not sure if I need to install some other type of software or maybe Dazzle isn't what I should be using.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
John

You have an OEM version of the software, and I am not certain it can capture from the Dazzle. I would recommend capturing, using Pinnacle, then bring the captured file into VideoWave for editing, then MyDVD for burning to a DVD.
