I want to use Creator Classic 8 to copy a number of files to DVDs.  I have specified that the files are not to be split across disks.  Creator loads down each DVD with its Retrieve files.  Is there any way that I can prevent it from doing so?  I just want my files on the disks.

Thanks,

Mark.

If it is a Data DVD project and you specified not to span disc, it simply cannot do what you are describing…

I suspect you are making a Backup project which will override your span setting…

Here's what I do:

- I open Creator Classic: Start | Programs | Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 | Data | Creator Classic.
- In the Project Settings for the Data Disk Project, I verify that the "Do not split files in multi-disc project" button is turned on (I have this set as my default).
- I click on the drop down for disk size and select DVD 4.7GB
- In the top section (Select Source) I highlight the files I want to copy to the DVDs.
- I drag these files to the bottom section (Data Disk Project).
- I click on Burn.

There are enough files to require more than one disk, but no file is too large to fit on a single DVD disk and no file is larger than 2GB.  When I click on Burn, I feed the disks as requested.  When I am finished, I check the disks.  The files are not split across the disks, but the Retrieve files (AUTORUN.INF, Launch_Retrieve.exe and the $ROXIO$ directory containing four more files) are included on the disk.  These are the files that I do not want included on the disk.

As a matter of fact, I never installed the Backup option and the Backout Project selection is grayed out in Creator.

I trust that this clarifies the matter a bit.

Thanks,

Mark.

OK it is coming back to me now… I just tried it with the same results you got.

Multi-Disc projects cannot be turned off in V8 Classic. You are telling it not to split a file but that is not the same thing as turning off spanned discs.

I don't like it anymore than you do but it isn't going to be changed. We just have to do our own work to limit files.

The 'backup option' you are refering to is BackUp My PC. BUMP is a seperate program and not releated to Classic whatsoever.

Thanks for looking into this for me, James.

Bah...  I sure wish I could get my Sonic RecordNow! DX 4.6 to work again.  Once I installed EMC 8, RecordNow! DX could no longer see all of my DVD drives.  I tried everything I could think of, but without luck.  With it, I could have multiple projects visible at the same time on the screen and save them as a unit.  I could also write to two DVD drives concurrently.  This upgrade to EMC 8 certainly reduced my productivity in this area.

Thanks again,

Mark.
