First, when you download that music, you essentially agreed to a DRM restriction on those music files. You cannot use them in this program directly. You have to use music ripped from a disc or captured on-line that is not covered by DRM. I know it sucks and Roxio has no say in the matter.

Usually you would cut the music in Sound Editor but if you used Video Wave to make the project, you can add music to the music track and do some editing there. You can use multiple audio tracks so the music can overlap.

There is a video (adding audio) that might be of some help Watch the part about adding the music, moving it to a position and then doing some editing.

BTW, don't forget about the built in SmartSound© function.  It you are just looking for elevator type music, it works well.  Of course you can buy more from Smart Sound.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

I am in the same boat.  Can we use cds or download from limewire.  Does the audio have to be a certain format such as mp3?

Yes, you can use music from a CD for your personal use.  You are taking the life of your computer in your hands if you download from Limewire -- there are nasty people out there.  Rip the music from the CD to a wav file and use that (best options).  Most mp3 files will work but there are some mp3 type formats that don't seem to work.  Converting them to wav seems to fix the issue if you only have mp3.  Use Sound Editor to do that by exporting the file.

There are some on-line music stores that are now selling DRM free music.  I have not looked into what the restrictions are but you might be able to use those.   I don't know if the program will use the DRM free music.
