I use Cool Edit Pro to edit my audio files, because it is a much more sophisticated program than the audio editing application in Roxio EMC 10. However, I find that I am unable to save my edited files because the file is "in use by another application", namely, the Media Manager application of EMC 10. Apparently, this application runs automatically and finds all the media files on my computer and loads them, making them unavailable to other applications. I'd be interested to hear from others who have experienced similar conflict problems and how they were resolved.

Disable all running Roxio programs, via msconfig.
