Roxio.

I tried the update twice and both times the update uninstalled my previous version then errored out..  obviously this is not a "coincidence"

The update does not seem to extract to a local folder.  If I could get passed the extraction process these errors wouldn't be so bad... but we're talking about hours of headache your giving me here......

So I have Vista Ultimate 64bit and want to know since Roxio seems to run on my system...

1.  what will I benefit from this update since my main use is videowave and creator classic...

2.  How do I get the update to install painlessly.. since that is your main focus is to make everything less of a headache for your consumers...!!!!

Hello there,

Not much use talking to Roxio here since their people don't often come here. There's only us customers, some of whom hang around to help others.

The update did that (uninstalled 9.0 and then errored) twice to me. sad.gif

I used Winrar to extract the contents of the downloaded updater, and then ran setup.exe from the starting folder. It went in fine that time.

I don't know what benefit you'll get from the update since I'm only running 32-bit Vista. However there were some problems with some parts of version 9.0 in Vista, and the update is supposed to fix them. If the parts you use are working properly I daresay the most benefit you're going to get is being able to say you beat the installer. smile.gif

LOL..  That's hilarious that they don't have people dedicated for technical assistance for there community board.. they used to back the version 6 and 7 days..

That's genius using winrar...  should have thought of that..

funny thing is...  I think it's garbage that they put out version 9  update it once... then all of a sudden they're into version 10   leaving consumers no choice but to buy yet another version  rather then have roxio or "sonic" provide the fixes for their version...

In my mind that's piracy and is half the reason why there is so much piracy with software....

if we could buy a version and then actually own it for more then 6 months before needing to buy another..  it wouldn't be that big of a deal to go out and buy the new version when it comes out...  I think a free upgrade to the next version should be automatic if it's within 1 year of purchase...

I know I'm just preaching to the quire but really..  Thanks Brendon..

and I'm going to pass on the update..  I'll just do my video on version 9 in WindowsXP anyways...  Vista is just so darn pretty..

Also, it should be mentioned that you shouldn't have any of the Roxio functions running in the tray, at startup, when you install the 9.1 patch.  Disable them, if they are running.

Roxio Tech Support never hung round back then either laugh.gif

I had similar experience with Vista 64 bit.  See the following post: http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=26677

I think the reason the install doesn't work with Vista 64 bit is that the v9.0 installs in "Program files (x86)" and not in "Program files".  When the update tries to install it only operates on the "Program files" folder.  I alerted Roxio Customer Care last spring, and they still had not recognized that as of late fall.

I finally gave up on Vista 64 bit (for many shortcomings) and reinstalled everything in Vista 32 bit.  Roxio v9.1 update installed and works OK.
