Newbie needs help!!
The burn process takes too long for me to try every combination, so I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

The disc burn process was successful through DVD Builder. I edited my video, added it to the project, created a menu and chapters, and selected intro music, then burned it.
The menu and chapters show up in the preview, but not on my set-top player.
I assumed it was a failed burn, but, if I open up the devices menu system and select a chapter, it will play through to the end of the video. The menu pops up after the remaining time on the dvd is up, but doesn't respond to remote commands like play, directional buttons, etc, and doesn't come up when I press the menu button.

I want the menu to appear upon inserting the DVD into the player (live every other dvd I've made).
I want the disc to have a repeat option or to just automatically repeat.
I couldn't find any settings for this, if there are any.

If you can help me with either, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!
Michelle

Edit:
I'm wondering if it has something to do with the FinishDVD Option... should I leave it unchecked, since this is not a rw disc? i had it checked (because that was default)... i really have no clue what I'm talking about... Please help, James!

It sounds like your Play problem is related to Player Compatibility. Some Players don't like consumer burned media sometimes changing the type of media, 'plus' or 'dash' will do the trick. Sometimes simply changing brands is enough.

Most of us burn to file from Builder then use Disc Copier to burn that file to disc. For whatever reason, this seems to work better…

There are not a lot of options for Menu control in V7 but after loading your project, look in File – Project Settings.

If you have some RW media, it is great for experimenting with.

And since you say you are fairly new to this -

James is correct that RW media is good to experiment with, because you can then erase it and start over, or if the result is good enough to burn to an R disc, erase and reuse for your next project. (This assumes you made your save to an .ISO file on your computer, so you can burn it to R media after seeing the RW turned out fine.)

Just don't use RW media for anything you want to keepa, because it will fade out on its own, taking all data with it.

I am just wondering what the heck the FinishDVD option is. I have senior moments, but I don't remember seeing that option.

So I tried the same burn to 2 other types of media with similar results.
Now I will burn to a file then to the discs to see if that makes a difference.
It's entirely possible my DVD player is lame. It was supposed to be one of the best at the time I bought it, but this isn't the only issue it's had, so it might be time for a change.
Perhaps I'll dig up my ancient Dennon one to see how the discs work on that one.

Thank you all for your help!
I'm sure I'll be back.

Before you get a new burner, list the make/model of your burner. Perhaps it just needs a firmware update. Or are you talking about a stand-alone DVD player?
Could you list exactly step-by-step what you did to create your DVD? You could also do a test run with a short project to see if everything works. Perhaps just a few photos, a couple of transitions and a simple menu. From you initial post it seems that your burner is working to some degree.
