I have Creator 8 and have been doing some video editing. It has worked OK for the last several days but today I discovered that the wheel and all the arrows for playback (which should show up below the video window) have disappeared!
I no longer can play my video.
I recently cleaned the registry with MAX Registry cleaner and maybe that has something to do with it.
I have tried using the installation disk to correct any errors but that didn't work.
Then I tried using the installation disk to install over the present installation and that didn't do anything.
Can I uninstall the program and then re-install and still save all my videos that I have created?
I am open for any suggestions you may have.
Thanks,
Harleyhead

Use the clean install method.

If you have saved your productions, to the default location that Roxio picks, move your productions to a different folder, outside of Documents and Settings. (make one). Go through the clean install, and put the productions back to where they were.

On future productions, save them to the folder you made.

Try 'undo'ing your last action and see if they all appear then. I had that problem once and it worked, apparently something not right with what I was trying to do. I've done it a few times since and it has worked for me. Tech support was not able to answer my question by phone. I believe it was just by trial and error that I discovered it.

There was nothing to undo. It was greyed out.
I decided to uninstall and upgrade to Creator 10.
Now I can't load any of my productions into the video editor. The screen just freezes and I have to Alt-Control-Delete out of it.
I'm giving up for the night.
Thanks for your help.

My guess is that your video drivers got wiped or corrupted when you did the clean-up (not to mention several other things).

Check for recent updates for your video card/chip or reinstall the old ones. Follow the manufacturer's instructions which may include removing the current drivers and then installing the other. Update Microsoft's DirectX 9c.

Make sure that when you install any software that you install to a clean and defragged hard drive. Always turn off your anti-virus; it can cause as many problems as doing that registry clean up.

There are a lot of other posts about Norton Windoctor deleting some Roxio dll. Search for it, perhaps your registry cleaner deleted that key also. Did you try to restore your registry? Most security hardware backs up the registry just in case.
