First, update the drivers for your video card/chip, then try again.

Did you actually go to the Nividia site and checked for the latest driver, and then verified that you have that version installed.

Thanks for the help.
After going to NVIDIA's site, they sent me to gateway for the driver, found out I do have the most current driver and I do have it installed.
I am open to any and all ideas.

Are the files that you are using .MOV files? Did you read through all of the posts that I linked to?
Have you tried doing a Repair to EMC 9, through Add/Remove Programs, by choosing Change?

again, thanks for the speedy reply.
It doesn't matter what file type I try to 'output as', as soon as I click on the movie reel (or file > output as..) the preview window goes to white (where it previosly had a screen shot from the video I am trying to output) and the 'make movie' window opens. After naming the file and clicking on 'create video file' I get the error message
As for the importing of files, .... no problems with any file types (hope I didn't jinx myself)
I have not yet tried doing a repair. Does that require the disc? or download?
thank you.

Before doing that, you could try uninstalling your video drivers, reboot so the default Windows ones are being used, then install your video drivers again.

Thanks for all the help. I went past the repair, found my discs and removed, and reinstalled the whole program. It appears to have worked.
Thanks to all for the posts.
...and if you know anything about how to remove the tiny fade in & out when working with audio clips, I'm all ears.
