installing update

i always feel a little nervous when i am preparing to install an emc update. is the one that is posted here a necessary update?

Do you  mean 9.1?  If you're using XP, it does nothing.  If you use Vista, it does fix problems that v9.0 had with Vista.  For the record, I've updated both XP and Vista to 9.1 with no problems.
