Where does one find RoxioZap on the support site? I had EMC 7 and was pleased enough to buy 8 (Big Mistake). EMC 8 VW kept my processor running at max and kept hangning up my laptop. Removed 8 and re-installed 7. Now 7 loads up but the CD/DVD drives don't work. Uninstall 7 and everything is fine again. But now, I have no DVD burning capability. Would really like to get 7 back with drives working.

Dell Inspiron 8600 Pentium M 1.5GHz
Memory Ram - 512MB
Hard Drive - 34.20 GB 11.71GB Free
XP-Pro 5.1.2600 SP2
64MB NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 Go Card
Intel PRO/wireless 2200
24X Combo DVD/CD-RW for Inspiron 8600 :)

Be very careful as this will remove all traces of EMC programs from your system. You might also want to look into the Microsoft Cleanup Utility to remove programs.

Thanks Paul, actually it looks like add/remove programs got everything. I ran the Windows Install Cleanup as well and no Roxio stuff there either.

My problem is explained in other posts and it looks like I have to go into the registry after I reload 7, to get my drives back. That is if I want to continue with EC at all. I am looking at Adobe.

I think the reason your computer kept running at max was because of Media Manager. If you look on the task bar you should have seen an icon for it.If you right clicked you could tell it to stop watching folders. You could also do this from inside Media Manager itself from the tools menu.

As far as your drives go you might go to Device manager, delete them and reboot and see if they come back. Also try running RoxAssist.Do a search on your computer to find where it is on your drive.

If all your system specs are correct you actually are at the low end for any video work especially using EMC 8. With only about 11 GB free hard drive space you will qickly run into problems.

I agree with Walt. And you might also take a look at how many "Restore Points" you have listed as they will take up a whole lot of space that one rarely thinks about and never takes in to account.
