I have got a Dell 1420 customised.

The specs are:

Core 2 duo T7300 (2.0 Ghz 4mb Cache)
2 Gb RAM
160 Gb Hard drive
Winows Vista Home Premium (32 bit edition)

I installed Roxio on my laptop and try to start it. It attempts to start the application and I can even see the start up shot of Roxio Easy Media but then it gives an error somthing like

Couldnt start application: Unknown reason (Vista exactly says unknown reason)

When I look into the task manager I can see the roxio engine working but still it doesn't start. I have tried even installing the patch available for Dell customers on Roxio site

http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000131CR

but with still the same result, still the same error. mad.gif mad.gif

Can anyone help me out??

just to add its Roxio Easy Meadia Creator 9

Pleasssseeeeee help me out.

You have Vista, you need to download and install the 9.1 update. Here

Leave 9.0 on there as the update needs to see it, then it will uninstall it and install 9.1.

And just to make sure, the EMC 9.0 must be the Retail version!!!. If it is an OEM version, you are out of luck.

You can't apply the 9.1 patch to the Dell OEM version, sorry (it's for the full retail version)

Check with Dell to see if they have any patches on their website
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Hack all you want, but don't whine about how long it takes to reformat your HD…

Ok so I believe James you are suggesting me not to do that. Maybe you can help me out as well then.....

Actually the error I got, I havnt seen anyone mention that. Can u tell me how to post an image here which is on my laptop so that I can post the screen shot of my error. (Coz the link for image I believe gives you option to post frm some other location on net)

Also another thing...

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sonic\Registration\Roxio Easy Media Creator 9]
"RemindForNLaunches"=dword:00000005
"RemindAfter"=dword:00000003
"ShowRegistration"=dword:00000000
"ReminderCount"=dword:00000001
"Last"=dword:45035ef3

as mentioned in this registry hack.....the hack needs to be done in folder Easy Media Creator 9 bt in my laptop there is no such folder under the given path. Instead I get the folder Roxio Central

This seems to be a One Way thread. You ask questions, we try to answer. We as questions, you ask more…

We have no idea if you have an actual Retail version or an OEM. Until you can supply some info, there won't be any suggestions.
