the update worked for one day. the next day im getting this message when its about to start writing
the drive reported an error:
Sense Key=MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code=0x0C
WRITE ERROR
any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Try different Media, Burn Speed, Make sure firmware for drive is up to date and if all that fails you might look into a new drive.
You could also make a disc image and try to burn that.
