Importing Other Dvd Menus

Hi guys my apologies if there is already a discussion about this i did not see it, my question is that i got a dvd ripped on my computer , title and menus etc, i wanna know if i can use that menu that was on the disk, on my dvd project because basically im making modifications from the original movie, the menu has "animatation" sound, and of course options on it...thanks

I wouldn't think so.  MyDVD uses it's own template system.  Now if you could get the anitmated menu into an MPEG, you can always use that as a background. You would still have to rebuild any buttons, etc.

ok so what  exactly would it be called on the dvd...it is afterall an actual dvd and they dont have it labeled "menu"?

The 'menu' on a DVD is nothing more than just another video file.  Usually, the disc will have files with .IFO and .BUP.  These are the navigation instructions and backup files.
video_ts.vob  is usually the menu video file
vts_01_1.vob  would be the first file of the movie

The movie is broken up into 1gig files so they are numbered consecutively.

Copy the video_ts.vob to your hard drive and rename the extension to .MPG and you should be able to use it as a menu background.  You may have to edit it if it includes a submenu.
