I just installed EMC8 (just purchased at CompUSA).  A couple of other DVD writing programs I use no longer work now and the system now requires me to use the power off button to shutdown hard (UGH). :)
Any idea's?

Hi
I had a simalar problem after installing EMC 8. I had AcDsee 7 on my system and was getting a conflit with the device detector component of AcDsee at shutdown so i removed AcDsee which fixed the issue. Have you removed those other DVD programs? It would help if you post your computer specs in your posts similar to mine below.

Do you have more then one packet writing program on your computer? You can only have one installed and many DVD programs come with one. You can either uninstall the D2D in Roxio or look in the other programs and uninstall theres.

Kinda sounds like a Hardware Upgrade requirement.

What are your system specs?

Also describe your windows experience.  Like how your computer starts, how fast your computer launches programs, etc.

I have not seen that type of problem since XP came out and I had an incompatible USB device.

First, as nanaoneal said I would remove any packet writing programs that may have been included when you bought your computer or were included with your other software. If you have one you like, make sure you disable or remove Drag 2 Disc.

Then update drivers and firmware for all your devices especially the USB devices and for your video card. (This program stresses the video capabilities of your computer but the issue can usually be solved by updating the drivers
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Several have requested I post my system info, but I am not exactly sure where to post it... do I use the notepad??  By the way, I uninstalled EMC8 and now everything works fine as before, so I will need to start fresh.  How will I know a packet writing program from another... is it an .exe file or something like that in each program?  Wish I was smarter about this kinda stuff... Thanks, I appreciate everyones help...

For your coputer specs. go to My Controls at the top of the page..  Once that opens, select signature on the left list.  List your compueter specs here, a signature if you want it and a phrase is you want one.  That will stay with your profile so whenever you post, that signature with computer specs will show
