Hi, I'm using toast 6 titanuim on a mac G4 with OS 10.4.1. I have an external LaCie burner, a NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A. I've been having a lot of trouble. I don't think it's the discs because I've tried others, but I'm using Sony DVD-R. I took this drive to a friend who also has toast 6 titanuim on a mac G4 with OS 10.4.1 and we succesfully burned a DVD.

These are all the errors I'm getting, please help me understand them:

error code -50
the connection is not stable

-

The drive reported an error
Sense Key= ILLEGAL REQUEST
Sense Code+ 0x26
INVALID FIELD IN PARAMETER

-

The drive reported an error
Sense Key= ILLEGAL REQUEST
Sense Code= 0x30, 0x05
CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM - INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT

-

Couldn't set track for writing.

Thanks!

It is not uncommon for there to be odd Firewire and USB problems after doing an incremental system update. This is fixed by downloading and applying the current combined system update. For example, if you have OS 10.4.11 then download and apply the 10.4.11 combined system update. It is a simple process and does no harm.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
