angry.gif I don't think I have ever been so frustrated with a software product as I am now with Roxio EMC 9.1, and I have been using PC's for over 20 years. I have a Dell Dimension 8300 running Windows XP Professional. I had a previous version of Roxio installed when I attempted to install 9.1 (WHY DOESN'T ROXIO TELL YOU TO UNINSTALL THE APPLICATIONS IN THEIR OWNERS' MANUAL????)

Okay, after my big mistake, my system seems unable to successfully recover. I have done every step precisely as suggested in the "Clean Installation" procedure without success. I have booted XP in every possible configuration I can think of with no effect. I have run Norton Systemworks and fixed any problems it uncovered. Nothing seems to help, and I have attempted this procedure FOUR TIMES!

Of course the installer tells me (every time) that the installation was successful, but when I attempt to run any of the Roxio applications, nothing happens. A review of the tasks in the Windows task manager shows that the application is running, but for whatever reason there is no window.

I have run out of patience with this product and with this company. I would be extremely grateful if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks.

The update applies to retail version of the EMC 9.0 Suite or Deluxe Suite. It is to be installed on top of the existing version 9.0.

In addition, 9.1 addressed Vista problems only - it doesn't make a scrap of difference with XP so in that case it is not essential to install it

This is something you need to research for yourself, prior to doing.

I was an avid user of Norton System Works for years. What I learned was very simple in the XP enviroment, it created lotsa of conflicts. I tried running a stripped down level of Nortons, kept the Virus and did away with everything else. I finally got rid of Norton's altogether and downloaded for FREE, AVG and Windows Defender. I have eliminated many of the problems that shadowed me for years. Whether this will solve problems with Vista, I do not know, but it sure did with XP. I get Daily updates with AVG and Windows Defender is by Microsoft and seems to work fine. I do a weekly scan with Adware and Spybot and it comes back Healthy. I use Uniblue's Registry Booster and all has been Great for almost a year now.
I do not have DAO or Drag to Disk on my computer and have kept DVD/CD Software to a min and have only what I use on my system, anything elese that was there for the sake of being there has been omitted.

  Good Luck

Hello,

9.1 came in two different flavors [Suite and Deluxe] and by three different modes of delivery,
-ESD  of 9.1 - purchased by download
-disc of 9.1
-a large downloadable updater to 9.1 for those who already had 9.0 installed

Which of these are you installing from, please?
