Having read the problems of installing EMC 10 and the horror show I went through for months trying to get EMC 9 stable. I believe I'll wait for the service pack 2 equivalents for EMC 10 and some evidence Roxio has figured out how to have the program install and uninstall itself cleanly before chancing the upgrade.

Ask MS when they're going to upgrade the Microft Installer (that's what .msi means)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Maybe you could pre-order V11.. It should be here in a few months. V11 should be out prior to any updates for V10.

After reading your post, I am convinced that I will return the Creator 10 to Best Buy that I purchased yesterday! This is after I have spent way too much time reading and printing all of the stuff, which is ridiculous, about the installation, etc. Are you serious that version 11 is already in the works or are you being facetious?
I will start looking on this board for successful updates to Creator 9. Do you know whether or not the label creator, editor, etc., has been fixed? I gave up trying to use it.

The 9.1 update is of no use unless you are running Vista
It was brought out to fix problems in that OS and has no effect on XP

I have VISTA. I read about the update and decided it would not be useful for me.
Thanks to both of your replies!

Basically the 9.1 update is a complete rewrite for Vista - it is, basically, the full suite (so be prepared for a big download)
Not running it on Vista I can't say what has been changed - but at the size involved, it's a lot

This is what the update says:
This Easy Media Creator 9.1 update does not offer any new features except for Windows Vista Certification. While the update will work with Windows XP and Windows 2000, it is not a mandatory update. All programs except CinePlayer are supported on Windows 2000.
Please read before downloading:
You must have a valid copy of the full, retail version of Easy Media Creator 9 or Easy Media Creator 9 Deluxe Suite on your system in order to install this update. If you did not purchase a retail copy of Creator, this update will not work for your version of Creator 9.
To check your version of Creator, run any program in the Creator Suite and choose About This Software from the Help menu. The second line will display your version number. If the version number starts with 9.0, and you are running the retail version of Easy Media Creator Suite or Deluxe Suite, you are eligible for this update.
You must choose the correct updater for your version: Creator 9 Suite or Creator 9 Deluxe Suite. As an easy reminder, the Deluxe Suite version comes with the Dazzle® DVC 90 USB video input device.
Do NOT uninstall your previous version. The updater will do this for you. The update will replace your installed copy of Creator 9 with Creator 9.1 (or Creator Deluxe Suite 9.1). The update is required to find your previous, compatible version to update.
This update is approximately 750 MB. A broadband Internet connection is recommended to download.
Due to Windows Vista certification requirements, there are several differences between version 9.0 and 9.1.
Backup MyPC is not included in the Creator 9.1 update.
XingTone is not included in Creator 9.1.
DVDInfoPro, InstallShield Update Manager and SightSpeed are not installed by default. If you want these programs in your suite, you should use the “complete” or “custom” install options.
Before installing the Creator 9.1 update, shut down all other running programs and unneeded background processes.
Installing the Creator 9.1 updater may take several minutes, depending on the speed of your system. Do not interrupt the updater until it has finished.
-----------
I purchase the download version from Roxio so according to this, I don't think the update would apply to me.
I guess I need to check the Roxio website to see if they show an update for the download version.
Thanks for replying!

The update does apply in your case if you have the full ESD (downloaded) version - it doesn't apply to OEM (cut down) versions
