I have been attempting to make a DVD from a 8mm camcorder video tape all day and my wife is going to divorce me if i dont stop staring at the pc in frustatration. i must suceed or desist, what am I missing?
If it is roxio software i am happy to purchase; however i am woried it might be something else as i tried another download with no sucess (intervideo windvd creator 3- can i mention that brand on this forum without being flamed?)
i copied the tape to the dvd recorder hard drive with success and burnt the dvd disc, which works in the dvd recorder and also on one pc only, one which has a copy of DVD Play (by cyberlink, which came free with the Vista Compaq PC) with that i can veiw the video, howver i cannot save or edit, worse....the DVD disc appears blank and there appears to be no file on it, which is obviously not true.
I assume if i could find out what format the file was saved on the disc, then all i would need would be a decoder which could then translate that into editing software such as roxio and i am home and hosed as the aussies say?
Can you please help me.
kind regards

By the sound of this clue, you used a stand alone DVD recorder and the disc is not finalized. Please red the DVD recorder's manual on how to finalize a disc. Put this disc backin the record and follow those steps. Only then will Windows 'see' anything on the disc.
