Error: You must reboot after installing EMC 8 before you install the content

The information in this article applies to:
Easy Media Creator 8

Applicable Operating Systems:
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows XP Home / Pro / Media Center
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Issue:

When attempting to install the Easy Media Creator 8 content disc you may receive the following error message:

Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 Content - Installshield Wizard
You must reboot after installing Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 before you install the content.

Solution:

1. Restart your computer

Once your computer is restarted, the Roxio media manager database should be automatically created and allow you to install the content without the above error message.

2. Launch an EMC 8 application such as Media Manager, MyDVD, PhotoSuite, or VideoWave

In some configurations the media manager database may not automatically be created. In order to cause this action to occur you will need to launch an EMC 8 application such as PhotoSuite.

a. Click on Start, (All) Programs, Roxio Easy Media Creator 8, Photo, and then on PhotoSuite
b. Once the application has launched, close the application
c. Now attempt to install the content disc.

If you have a version of EMC 8 which does not include PhotoSuite (or you choose not to install it) you may instead use Media Manager, MyDVD, or VideoWave in place of PhotoSuite in the above instructions.
