Unable to Read CD and DVD Discs After Installing EMC 8
The information in this article applies to:
Easy Media Creator 8
Applicable Operating Systems:
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows XP Home / Pro / Media Center
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
Issue:
After installing Easy Media Creator 8, you may be unable to read CD or DVD discs from optical drives on your computer. Attempting to read discs may result in the system appearing to hang or crash. Additionally you may not be able to explore external USB/FireWire drives.
Solution:
This issue is caused by a conflict between an EMC 8 feature called RXFilter and certain anti-virus software.
RXFilter allows users to access data on compressed or encrypted disc sets directly from Windows Explorer instead of having to use Roxio Retrieve.. By disabling RXFilter, you will need to use Roxio Retrieve to compressed or encrypted data discs created in Creator Classic.
1) How to Disable RXFilter
If you believe RXFilter is conflicting with your anti-virus software, you may download and run the following utility in order to disable RXFilter:
http://tools.roxio.c...c8/rx/rxfix.exe
You must restart your computer once you have run the hotfix.
2) Enable RXFilter
If at a later point you wish to re-enable RXFilter, you may download and run the following utility:
http://tools.roxio.c...x/rxenabler.exe

So is this something that will eventually be fixed, or do we need to install the fix each time we update?
Thanks for posting the info again.
