Roxio Suite 9 and VISTA loading problems
#1
Posted 07 January 2008 - 07:10 AM
I assume this is a VISTA problem, as I have loaded Easy Media Creator 9 Suite on THIS computer (XP) with no problems. But it won't install on my new SONY laptop (VISTA) successfully.
I get the following messages:
1) skin IMAGE menu separator.png found, but can not be loaded?
2)"RUN TME ERROR" This application has requested the .exe runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Pleae contat the applications support team for more information.
3) RoxMMTRAYAPP Module has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working cvorrectly. Windows will close the program ....
Everytime I reboot, it tried to reinstall, with the same error message.
One theory is that it was purchased in July 2007, and may be PRE VISTA. I have read Roxio notes that say to get the VISTA version download (9.1), you first have to have the NON VISTA (9.0) installed, but that appears impossible to do.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try copying the disc to the hard drive and running setup from there. 9.0 should install to Vista fine as I have done it on 2 different systems.

Was your original EMC 9 program a download from Roxio, or did you buy a retail copy of the program and have the discs ?? And just a comment, but if you have already installed the program on another computer (XP) then you are not legally allowed to have that same program on more than one computer.---OR---if you had it installed on the XP computer and then later changed the OS to Vista on that same computer, that is O.K. The program should install O.K. on XP or Vista as already suggested .

Try copying the disc to the hard drive and running setup from there. 9.0 should install to Vista fine as I have done it on 2 different systems.
I downloaded the Suite to the XP computer, paid for the discs to be sent by mail, and also paid for the extended download option.
On the XP machine, I tried to install from the discs, removed it, and then tried the download. All with the same results (NONE).
"you are not legally allowed to have that same program on more than one computer.---" I did not know this. Do you think that is the sole problem?
You'd think that after 5 days, someone from ROXIO would answer my question, even if that was the answer. But I guess why should they, they've already got my money.
Can anyone point to anywhere on the ROXIO site that says they're software can only be used on one computer?
Thanks

As far as I know, there is nothing mechanically prohibiting you from installing on more than one computer. It's the license that only allows installation on one system. I've not looked at it in some time but I doubt it's changed any.

The problem you are having is not because you are trying to install the same program on two different computers. As Paul suggested, Mechanically that would not cause your problem. However, as Paul pointed out the license says you can only install it on just one computer, and that was what I intended in my previous post reply.

Thanks Frank, I guess I should real the 'fine print'. As you said, that's ot realy anissue here, as IF I can get the software installed, I'll register it with my new computer.
Do you have any idea how to get ROZIO's LIVE CHAT working? or is that just more of their marketing talk?
