I will BET that you hate me for this guys, just a prank, there is no Scenarist BD SE Edition.  glare.gif

.... But I'd like to start a petition for one  smile.gif

Why?
1) There is no middle ground in BD authoring, it's either consumer or $$commercial$$, it's so annoying. Yes I like being able to make Blu-ray's but I need more, DTS, H.264, VC1, MultiAngle, Pop Up menus- leave the scripting to the full version as part of an upgrade possibility....
2) When you need help you get it.- I mean a product with the Scenarist name is going to cost more, maybe $3000 + 10% annual? That's fine by me as long as when we need support we get it. ie, We can talk to SONIC people and not Roxio people. (not taking anything away from Scott who helps out a lot here and actually is a SONIC man)
3) I downloaded trial of DoStudioMX for HD-DVD and think it would be perfect for Blu-ray (if it were only). Does Sonic want to wait until someone else makes a similar package at professional (not commercial) pricing like this? If that happens, not only could it do very well but you might loose the potential for the full upgrade!!!

Hi I know it sucks . I've trying to figure out  a way to create Blu Ray discs like the hollywood guys do and all it comes down to is money . 60k is the going price .
The only hope we have is " Apple's DVD Studio Pro"  You know it's Affordable , I just hope it has  all or most of the functions the 60k softwares have.
Final Cut Pro has made Avid come down in price , hopefully DVD Studio Pro does the same to Scenarist .

Isn't DVDSP more likely to go HD-DVD that's what they have been touting.

The major requirements I would have for my next semi-pro tool is 1. full format support of all audio & video assets & 2) pop up menus & full highlight (colors) support. That's all sad.gif

At 300$ never. This is what you get maybe an update to fix somes bugs and newer templates That's It I would really be surprised if Sonic offers that .
Ulead Blu Ray system at 99$ offers Pop up menus  .

I did't say I wanted it for $299. The point of the post is for a new program at professional (not commercial) pricing. I wont touch Ulead in a million years. smile.gif

I just bought the Ulead system because I was curious what you get for $ 99 - includes the HD power pack - very simple to use - no problems in producing a project - but, quite frankly with the limited menu options and overall simplicity it is nowhere near DVDitProHD in quality. You may use motion background menus but no animated chapter thumbnails and the animated backgrounds are in SD!!! You get what you pay for, as they say. After having produced some really good projects with all the trimmings in DVDitProHD I could never show someone a Ulead BDMV with the simplistic menus - sort of looks like my kids produced it (they are in Kindergarten)

True with all things in life. I wish i could afford Scenarist BD but I can't. Netblender has a good option coming out soon- I'll go there and SONIC will loose the chance to get my more than modest dollar in the professional price point range.

I agree with Shueardm! A low budget Scenarist for BDMV authoring and $3K is acceptable price.

Thanks.

Now this is what I am talking about.

DoStudio Authoring

SONIC Solutions had better come up with something new real quick. Mark my words this product will eat away at your dominance if you don't provide middle range solutions.

Interesting that the product uses Corel PureHD Multiplexing (which owns Ulead).

Re: BD popup menus, I'm hoping something from Ulead's consumer stable offers that feature later this year  rolleyes.gif

An affordable solution is what the DVD industry needs. DoStudio Authoring delivers professional features in an easy-to-use package at an affordable price. DSA is part of the DoStudio product suite which is available for a monthly subscription fee of $249/month .

Ouch...

The only problem is Sonic Blu Ray  is like a Formula 1 Racing car and Do Studio is a  Very Expensive Ferrari . I think it's best to wait till Nab and see what they announce . Netblender that is .

I agree about the F1 analogy, not so the Ferarri. Perhaps an Audi or Merc.
