I would use .iso, if you can.

However for Audio CDs, I'm not sure that you can create .iso. At least in EMC10 (which is what I have, but I think it was the same in 9) Create disc image will not allow .iso to be created with audio discs. That is a great nuisance because Roxio's disc image loader will not load .gi files onto a virtual drive created with it, but is happy with .iso files. However burn image and Music disc creator work with either file types. Music disc creator will also create .c2d image of Audio CD but not .iso. Disc image loader wiull mount c2d images.

.iso is a universally recognised fromat, .gi is a Sonic proprietary format. c2d is a Roxio format. So other image handling apps may also have problems with the latter, but all will be able to use .iso files.

Dead on Jean, because it's a Sonic app. LoisTO, use the program list Disc Copier!

From EMC 9
Supported file formats
Disc Image Loader can load various types of disc image files. The following table lists the file types supported in Disc Image Loader.

File Format  Extension
ISO Disc Images  (.iso)
Roxio Disc Images  (.c2d)
CIF Files  (.cif)
BIN/CUE Disc Images  (.cue)

About disc images and emulated drives
A disc image is a file that contains the entire structure of a disc including format (audio CD, DVD, data CD, etc.) and content (files, tracks, etc.). You can convert Audio CD, DVD-Video, or CD-ROM discs into disc image files quickly and easily with Disc Copier. See the Disc Copier Help Center for more information.

Thanks for both your replies.  You made it much clearer than what I was able to glean from the help section.  LoisTO
