I now have new PC with Firewire port
At present I transfer from VHS analogue to PC via USB (Dazzle DVC)
Is it possible to transfer from VHS player to PC via Firewire instead of USB

That Dazzle is an analog to digital converter. You would still need something that does that.
Do you have a digital video camera that might do a pass through?
I googled for a device that would connect via Firewire and there are several ranging from about $125 to $700. I don't know if they would work but they should. Perhaps someone else has one and can tell us the results of using it for capturing directly to DVD.
Have you considered a DVR/VHS recorder device and not use your computer at all?
