After completing a project, I go to burn it on my Mad Dog external burner.  I keep getting "The disk type does not match the project type you are trying to burn.  Please insert the correct media and try again", warning.   I encountered this and many other problems when I upgraded to Creator 9.  I did uninstall and reboot a few times.  Wish I had my old program again.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That usually means you have created a project for a CD-R and your trying to burn to a DVD-+R. If this is not the case explain what steps, in what applications of the program, with version #, please.

No, it's a DVD project.  I clicked on "Create DVD".  I have completed a video and slideshow project.  It plays well in prevue.  When I hit the burn button that warning that I mentioned keeps popping up.  As for version # I don't know what that means.  By the way thanks for your interest and any help you can give.

It sounds like a version that came with your pc? In this "Create DVD" is that the name of the program? Could the program be VideoWave or MyDVD ? Go to help about in that program and list a version #.

Look at this pic, click it to enlarge it. On the left side the drives post what yours say in device manager.

To identify your drive in XP. Right click my computer and click properties. The system properties window opens, click the Hardware tab and then click device manager. The Device Manager Window opens, from the top view, make sure a dot is next to view devices by type. Click the + next to DVD/CD-Rom Drives, post what it reads?

steele52,

please answer all the questions if we're going to get anywhere!

It sounds like a version that came with your pc, did it?

Or from Roxio Creator 9 Home, do you choose Video from the left side, then the window that opens on the right. Create a DVD with MYDVD? If so and MYDVD opens, click help about at the top and list a version #, please!

I doesn't look like you have done anything that cdanteek has suggested.  You didn't get a Windows version number in MyDVD.  Try again.
