Prior to buying and installing Roxio, my computer could burn CD's just fine. I purchased this software so that I could burn my TiVoToGo videos and also burn DVD's.  Prior to a rebuilding of the system I used a free version of Nero.   During the rebuild, the system was formatted and I've got all the latest drivers installed.

Now I cannot burn anything from Windows directly or from within Roxio.  It keeps telling me that I need to install a Writeable disk.  I've got a 50 disk spindle and my computer is telling me that they are all bad?  I don't think so considering I ripped 3 disks in the last 2 days from this spindle...

There is nothing in the KB that I found to be useful or of assistance.

Did I just waste $50?

I'm seeking any advise / input at this point...

Roxio has completely hosed my burner.

I've gone through all the articles on this site along with every article I can find outside of the site.  I've completely uninstalled Roxio 9 and every reference to it in my system.

Now my burner won't even recognize a disk in Windows...

I've removed the drives and allowed Windows to Reinstall them
I've cleaned out all the hidden Roxio folders per the KB Articles
I've scoured the registry and cleaned that out using CCCLeaner

My Burner will still not read a disk, or burn a disk in Windows now.

What has Roxio done to my system and how do I undo it short of formatting the system and starting over...

Here is a bit about the system if it will help:
Windows XP Pro w/ SP2 and all updates
Asus P5N-E MB
Q6600 Quad Core
2 GB Corsair Memory
nVidia 8600GTS w/ 512mb
DVD-Drive
DVD-RW Burner

Reinstalling Roxio on my computer is not an option...  I've requested the refund and already shredded the download.

Roxio didn't hose your burner.  It is a problem with the Microsoft OS, and they have an article and fix, on their site.  You could try the pxengine fix, in the following URL.  It basically automates the MS process for removing the upper and lower filters.

Regretfully I had already found that article and had taken care of the upper and lower filters by using the fix already.

So I am still looking for an answer.

At this point my drive won't even read a CD let alone burn one.

What DVD burner do you have?  It appears that the CD laser went out on it.

Sorry for the delay in my post...  I've not been able to focus on this.

Grandpabruce...  this is a generic ATAPI DVD burner.

I know for a fact that the laser hasn't gone out on it...   I removed it from this computer and dropped it in another one and it works perfectly fine.  The problem is that Roxio has hosed my installation of Windows.

Any other suggestions?

Chris

Well...   Just to give an update...  I've formatted my system and the drive works flawlessly again without Roxio on my system and I doubt that Roxio is going to reimburse me for lost time, energy and effort short of just refunding me the $$ for the software which has already been done.
