I didn't want to put this at the end of the other topic I had brought up, so thought I'd ask here. I will probably most likely be upgrading to Easy Media Creator 10 at some point, but until that time, is there a good way to upload a short completed video to You Tube? I know I'm going to need the right file type or to convert to the right file type to do this, but not sure quite how to do it...

I think the fastest way may be like Steve said to try Buzz. I haven't tried it, but I think it automates the process, and it's free too. But if you still want to try from within VW, here is my experience.

I was asked to put a video on youtube this week. Like GPBruce noted, youtube has a pretty good Help file. What I read there is that they like the DivX format, and -- depending on whether you follow their written instructions or their video intructions -- they either want your video in 640 x 480 or 320 x 240. For audio they ask for mp3, mono. (Although they will take several other formats as well, but trying to retain quality is difficult so I wanted to try to stay as close to their recommendations as possible.)

In both VideoWave 9 & 10 there is an option to output as DivX in either of those file sizes, the only difference is there is only an mp3 stereo option, no mono. I created a test file last night (at 640 x 480) and in V9, I lost my text overlays during the output process. In V10, however, no such trouble. I don't know if this is a V9 problem or some other problem, since I had not tried this when I only had V9 on this computer.  (But it may work ok for you in 9, since the options are all there.)

I uploaded the test file with no problems and the audio was fine. This is the only one I have tried so far, but the results to this point have been good.

Thanks for the help - I got my first video clip up on You Tube with the Buzz program, it worked well. The clip is part of a fishing video I'm putting together in Videowave. Since this is my first clip, if you do a search on You Tube with my user name Fishnmusicn, it'll come right up. Thank you!

Karri,
Do you know where the option is in Videowave 9 to output as Divx? I'm limited in Buzz to taking individual clips and editing them, which is what I did for my first upload. I'd like to take my saved project in Videowave which is a combined number of clips with my music in the background, and somehow convert the files to whatever YouTube will accept. Still proud though I got my first clip on YouTube - the Buzz works great for its intended purpose... Malatekid, thanks for the feedback smile.gif

In Videowave, either choose File->Output As or just click the film reel in the Preview section. Then, with Destination set to Video file, there is a dropdown in the Video file quality section where Divx is one of the options.

I just uploaded to You Tube as an AVI file, it went through but not available yet, keeping my fingers crossed - this project is just over 2 and a half minutes and has my music in the background. The output as feature was very easy to use.

There is no DIVX setting as an option, just generic AVI normal size and generic AVI small size?

Your video from Buzz was very clear on youtube, you did a great job!

Click the output reel icon  (Alternately, File > Output As) and set Destination to Video file, like malatekid suggested. Then click the Purpose sections' drop-down arrow and click on DivX. Then in the Video Quality section, click on the drop-down arrow and pick DivX Better Quality. This also generates an avi file, but worked fine in my youtube test.

Unfortunately in the Purpose section, there is no DIvx setting. This is what is listed -TV/VCR playback, DVD playback,DV output, VCD playback, General Editing, Playback on another PC,SVCD Playback,Email, Slideshow, All... Maybe I should try MPEG-2 for best quality listed under All from the Purpose Menu. Time to go to work so I'll check back later. Thanks for your help. If you do a search again in YouTube for Fishnmusicn, you'll see the full clip I added but the quality is pretty lousy, even though my music came out nice and clear. Its all a learning process, check back with you later and thanks...

Thanks, Steve smile.gif In mine, it lists DivX if I click on the drop down arrow in the Purpose section. If I click  on DivX there, then there are only the three DivX options listed to choose from without searching through the other file types.

And what just occurred to me, maybe DivX isn't available as an option in the standard version of 9? I have the Deluxe version and I believe you do as well. I'm not sure if we know which version fishnmusicn has.

Thank you for the replies - yes, I do have the basic version. It seems like M-PEG2 for DVD,best quality would be the best option and it is listed. However, here is the latest glitch... I get a window that says Error- unable to build the render graph - with that setting - what is up with that? If I go down the list to the next setting which is better quality, it works. I'd like to have the best quality of course, but will I be able to get it?

Read this thread,  Basically update your video card or your version will not work with that format.
