Hello.
I'm trying to install a program, and for some reason, every time I try, my computer restarts. Microsoft says that the error is caused by Drive Letter Access (DLA) and that there is a fix for it on the roxio site.
I keep looking, and looking, and looking, but I do not see any update / upgrade for DLA, and it seems near IMPOSSIBLE to log in to get technical support (on one page it will say "Hi, Nigel!" but as soon as I hit the email button it asks me to log in again and says it does not recognize my email address~!).
I am very, VERY frustrated. You'd think if there was something as serious as a problem that causes one's entire computer to restart that the fix would be "somewhat" easy to find for people... wouldn't ya?
Help...?
Anyone...?
Dla Is Causing My Computer To Restart.

Is it a Vista computer? The Knowledgebase has a solution for that here: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/RecordNow/0...R?set-locale=en
If it's not Vista, go to the Support page and type DLA in the KNOWLEDGEBASE here : http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/default.html

It's not Vista. It's just a 4-5 year old HP computer. Typing things into that roxio search thing is something I've already tried. There seems to be no specific fix. My guess is that I have to just update every program on my computer that is in any way shape or form related to Roxio (all stuff that came on the computer, I know I've never bought any of these programs).
Uggh...
The way they handle support, it's definately not on my high list of software companies I want to do much business with either.

If it came with the computer, it is an OEM [Original Equipment Mfgr] Version. When the OEM contracts to use the software (usually a special Version, often a cut-down Version) the also usually accept the responsibility to support it. I'd suggest checking with the manufacturer of the comptuer - altho admittedly, after 4-5 years they may no longer remember much about it.
You might try turning off DLA.

What program are you trying to install, Nigel? What operating system are you using? We can only take wild stabs at a cure until you give us some hard information, and those two items are vital. Please give the name and version number of the program.
