Dual Core is mostly hype aimed to divert attention from the lack of real progress in CPU performance for a couple of years now…

Yes it will run on Dual Core but no real improvement will be seen.

You failed to mention what processor you have or what version of EMC you are running. Even so, pegging 100% is not normal and something needs to be addressed.

EMC 10 should run fine on what you have.  There is one part of EMC 10 called Roxio Watch Folder that does take a lot of CPU time first time it runs.  What it is doing is cataloging ALL of your media files like music and videos.  If you have lots of ripped music and/or home videos on your hard drive, this can indeed take awhile and use the CPU. Most of us just turn it off.

In the lower right corner in the systray, there should be a small icon that looks like a blue book with the roxio logo on it. RIGHT mouse button click on it and choose EXIT (Stop folder Watching).  This disables the function, but the program is loads.  If you don't want the program to load at boot up, use MSCONFIG.

Before upgrading, I would follow the Clean Install procedures and see if that improves things. – <a target="_new" href="http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000086CR">Here</a>

Your PC seems to be up to snuff although you would defiantly want to make sure your Video Drives are up to date as well as DirectX.

You would be much better off investing in a good, updated video card.  Yours will get by but look for a midrange card with at least 256 MB on board.  Look at the signatures of some of the frequent posters to see what they are using.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

PC  Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

You already have 1GB memory.  Upgrading to 2GB wouldn't make a big difference in video editing much, but a better video card will in Videowave/MyDVD especially if you like to use 3D transitions and effects.  I would think the Radeon X700 should work in hardware render mode though.

If you were thinking Dual Core, I wouldn't waste my time on 3800. Jump up to 5000 or 5600 (if the mobo can handle it) would make a REALLY big difference.  Not so much because it's Dual Core, but the CPU speed is almost twice.  Just moving up to the fastest Athlon 64 your mobo can handle would make some difference in video processing.

in creator 10, if i take de option "my dvd" starts, and shut down again with a comment like:

Microsoft visual c++ runtime libary
run time error
program:c\ program file\roxio/videoui 10\video wave 10.exe
r6025
-pure virtua function call

what does this mean. again i've seen my cpu goin to a 100%

please help
