Once upon a time in Easy CD Creator V one could not only erase a CD or DVD/RW but also reformat it. I don't see that option in the Tools menu EMC 10 and wonder if that is not necessary anymore. Does anyone know the answer? dry.gif

It actually never was necessary to format a disc, unless you were using Drag to Disc, or some other packet writing software. Drag to Disc is not part of EMC 10.

Neither Packet-Writing (DirectCD, Drag2Disc, Nero's InCD, Sonic's DLA, etc) nor RW media was ever intended for long-term archiving, so hopefully you are only using it for things like transferring files (altho these days Flash drives - aka Thumb / Jump / Keychain / Pen drives - can do the job and there have been fewer reports of problems with them than Packet-Writing). Using RW media and Packet-Writing together seems to speed up the failure point.

Here is some additional info to think about -

rolleyes.gif Thanks to all. I was curious as to why packet writing seemed to sort of diappear.

It disappeared from EMC 10 because that suite is designed for Vista, and Vista has adopted this format and use as a big floppy software as its default system - so having a separate application to do it isn't needed any longer. It's now built-in to Vista.
