Ps3 Patch Placed - Now Crashing On Rendering

I'm back. 'Black menus' in PowerDVD was nothing compared to my current problem now. I followed the procedure to substitute the MonteCarlo.objects.dll and now I've had rendering errors. At first system crashes (blue screen) and a lack of recognition of a peripheral firewire drive. I moved the files that were on that drive to the internal drive on my computer and disconnected the firewire device. Now as I try to render my project I get a message that reads:
"unexpected device sense code %0 - 2740" This occurred somewhere after transcoding of audio and menu building. The only other changes to my system were installation of updates for Cakewalk Sonar 7.0 and use of BD-RE media in the drive. Could the PS3 patch have caused any of this? I did rename the old file .dllold and left it in the DVDitProHD folder where the replacement file was copied to. Appreciate any input on this one.

Are you getting the error message when writing to the BD-RE? or when you are "burning to volume"?
I had a BD-RE that needed a "complete" erase. The software has some sort of device sense code error.
The "quick" erase did not get rid of the error but the "complete" erase did.

Thanks. I'll try a 'complete' erase. Yes , I was trying to write to the BD-RE.

I have been using Nero. A full or complete erase takes several minutes, not seconds.
If you put in a "new" BD-RE, do you get the error message?

Yes. The new BD-RE gave me the message immediately. I gave in and tried a new TDK BD-R and I thought I was doing well until 30 minutes (3/4 of the way) into burning the volume, the same "unexpected device sense code" popped up with the resultant 'coaster'. So far to recap, my only successful disc burn was a Panasonic BD-R, but I'm wondering if I was just lucky the first time. I tried to look for Nero on the web, but every site wanted a monetary commitment to membership. Is there a freeware version somewhere? Is it best to work with 'volumes' as opposed to 'disc images'? My Cyberlink PowerDVD DX 7.0 I beilieve is 'play' only. I'll try the Roxio Creator Premier that came installed on my computer to see what I can do with it. I read someone else's post of a similar problem who found the workaround for now with 3rd party software. Is there any point in trying to do the list of suggestions from Roxio searchbase:
1. update firmware of burner (Philips internal - relatively new from Dell 3 months ago)
2.PX engine update? ( not sure if this is for DVDitProHD )
3.try different BD-RE
4. re-install of burner drivers and/or re-install of DVDitPoHD?
Thanks for your help, Tom.

IS there a free-trial download for Nero Ultra or whichever program that I could try to burn the volume with? Not sure what else I can do.

I've had some similar problems both burning volume and burning to disc. Here's what has solved these problems for me: Build a new project from scratch, save project, then burn volume, and burn disc. Do not close and reopen the project or application. It's worth a quick test with a small amount of media - to see if you are having the same problem.

P.S. I wonder if the closing and opening of the program does something via the Temp folder. I noticed that I have the 'erase temp files each time program closes' box checked in the preferences and one of the crashes yielded this info:

I think it's a driver conflict. If not mistaken others have seen this problem.
