I have Record Now version 6. Version 6.7.0 to be exact. Program came with computer. Has HP with windows XP. Program ran great for a few years. Now when I go to open the program it will show the opening logo with the girl with the red top [no bra] and across the middle is an error message saying that "No recordable or rewritable disks could be found." I click ok and the program closes and I can get no further. Has anyone run into this before? I can use the drive to run and burn with using other programs but I liked the record now program and I sure would like to get it up and running again. Please help!!!

Jerry,

As it is right now it's no use to you. Something has trodden on it, and either broke it or is interfering with it.

If it is broken, uninstalling and then reinstalling it should put it back how it was. If it's being interfered with, fixing it might be more complicated but we're not going to know until you uninstall/reinstall.

Thanks for getting back so fast!!. The program came with the computer so I do not have a disk. Funny thing is that when the program trys to open you can see the security code at the bottom of the openning page. Can I uninstall it and reinstall it without a disk using this key code? [Free internet software for this version or the equivilent.]
Thank you,
Jerry

Sorry Jerry,

The only way I know to reinstall it is with the original installer from your computer supplier. You would need to talk with them about that, although after all these years I can't imagine they'll give you much time or effort - they didn't give you an installer disc when you bought the computer. sad.gif

There is one thing which might help you.
Record Now! uses Sonic's PX authoring engine, and there are updates available for the PX engine. Many folks with new drives which aren't 'recognized' have found that updating their PX engine version has cured their problems.

Your problem isn't with recognizing a new drive, but with something broken. If you install a new engine with the updater there's a chance you might replace the broken part by replacing the engine.

The updater should work on your RecordNow! 6. I just installed RN!7 and updated it from 2.0058a to 3.0058a okay.

I can't guarantee it will fix your problem, but it seems worth a try. The PX engine updater is at http://images.roxio.com/en/support/pxengine3_00_58a.zip and it's only 1.6MB. You just extract the executable and run it.

Please come back and let me know how it goes.

Bendon you are the MAN!!!
Thank you soooooo very much for your help. I have run the program through all the paces and it is working great. I am a drummer of 27 years ,my 16 year old son plays lead guitar, my 15 year old son plays bass guitar and my 4 year old son runs around trying to be a lead singer. Getting the Record Now program working is very instumental to our misic sessions because it is the easiest program to use with having great results. My 4 year old knows how to burn his own cd`s. He listens to everything from "Play that funky music white boy" by "Wildcherry" to "Crazy Train" by "Ozzy Osborn". My wife thinks at times that we are all nuts. But I tell her hey, at least I know where my kids are! Well thank you again for all your help and your desire to help someone you don`t even know.
Jerry
