Within the last week, (I just downloaded and installed BacupMyPC 6 for a customer less than 6 days ago) Some brilliant mind decided to "gut" the entire contents of the most powerful unattended backup software on the planet - BackupMyPC!
What were you THINKING?

I just downloaded BackupMyPC again for a customer yesterday. Not only does it work totally differently, (actually I couldn't even use it at all) It is in fact, no longer the same program. It unfotunatley more resembles the Back On Track program, which provides no business-level quality capabilities.

Instead of the "real" BackupMy PC program, it is some "lame" combination of RecordNow and other sundry pieces that have none of the powerful capabilities of the former version.

Gone are the powerful data selection by directory capability, Gone are the VERY powerful scheduling, backup set rotation and unattended backup capabilities that we have used on personal computers and file servers for over a decade.

The "new" version is some super-stripped down program that cannot be used for reliable "business" backups (required by a large number of my small business clients).

I advised my customer to seek a refund! We "downgraded" and re-installed his Easy Media Creator Suite 9 (he nor any of my other customers will be upgrading to Suite 10 - which also now includes NO version of BackupMyPC - the reason we all bought it in the first place) so we could resume his rotating backup-set, unattended small business backups, that have served us so well for YEARS.

The other CD, Video and sound applcations were incendental to our purchases. There are a number of better competing products, but we got the Roxio (whuch included the "former" Sonic BackupMyPC) because of the backup software... and oh yeah... the other integrated stuff.

We were dismayed to buy the "Roxio Easy Media Creator Suite Deluxe 10", only to find that BackupMyPC was no longer included.

So we went on-line and re-bought just the BackupMyPC software as stand alone.

Now even that is a poor substitute (actually, no substitute at all) of the "real" Thing.

I guess we'll have to switch to your competitors such as Acronis True backup, NTI NowBackup or others that provide these capabilities (although not as powerful as the "former" BackupMyPC).

What were you guys THINKING!

Not sure what you downloaded, but I have Backup MyPC 2006. It works exactly like V6, (which it is, just renamed), v5, and v4. Are you sure you did not download Back on Track.

As for this site, it is a forum of users, not Roxio staff, so your complaint will probably not be seen by anyone from Roxio.

You might also want to edit your post, since this is a public Forum searched by google and other search engines, which in turn are searched by spammers seeking to "harvest" email addresses for spamming purposes - you might want to remove the phone number as well ... assuming it is not already too late.

I think BUMP was taken out of EMC 10 - as oppoed to EMC 9 - due to compatibilty with Vista ... or rather, lack of it.
