Hi,

I am experiencing problems with EMC 9 when I use MyDVD 9 to capture video from my VCR, through a "Lumanate Wave NTSC/ATSC Combo Device", which I ordered with my Dell Laptop that arrived in June. The PVR was bundled with EMC 9 and MyDVD, and on the Lumanate website it is one of two programs that work with the PVR to capture video. The other program doesn't work under Vista so I can't isolate if the problem is the PVR or EMC, however, I think it is more likely a software issue.

When I am capturing video everything works normally until about 15-20 minutes into recording, when EMC stops working and Vista tells me the program must close.

The video cuts off, obviously, but when I open the video in Windows Media Player it runs smoothly until the cut off point.

Since my computer is still under Dell's teech support I have talked to them on three occassions in the past few days. They upgraded EMC 9, upgraded the video card drivers and the PVR/TV Tuner drivers. But the same problem continues.

I am assuming at this point that the issue must be Windows Vista and EMC 9 not working together properly because even after updating all the drivers and checking through everything the problem is exactly the same.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this? I am growing frustrated because I can't archive old videotapes, which is one of the reasons I bought the TV Tuner card and invested in a better video card. Obviously this would be something I need to discuss with Dell, but I'm hoping someone has some advice that may fix this problem.

Other than that EMC has been working fine when I have burned CDs and DVDs.

Thanks in advance.

Possibly something wrong with the source video?
