I have a Dell laptop running Vista that came with EMC 9 pre-installed. I connected my Canon miniDV via firewire. I can control the camera and view the output but I am unable to capture it -- the capture buttons are dimmed. Is this a trial version of EMC? I am able to copy video to the pc via moviemaker. The cam is on the list of approved ones.

The versions that are already pre-installed are OEM versions are though they may vary, they do not have all the bells and whistles of the full retail versions. Most of the software that comes pre-installed is the same way.......junk!

The Dell DE version is not a full retail version. Have you asked them, Dell?
