If someone tries to execute MyDVD and nothing happens, or a blue/grey screen appears without menus nor preview screens, do what I had to do.
Give confidence to the infos which tell that DirectX must be installed well. Try some apps which work in DirectX and ensure you have it enabled (maybe through Properties-Configuration-Advanced in your screen adapter).
I was so silly that I installed and reinstalled EMC 8 lots of times, went back through restoration point in Windows, installed and uninstalled old versions and even tried to "uninstall manually" editing the windows register.
And the fact was I had only to enable DirectX functions in my computer.
Now everything works fine. The only thing is I had menus in spanish and now some of them appear in english, some of them in spanish.

Thanks for emphasizing how important DirectX is wtih EMC8. More and more applications are now using DirectX commands. It's not just for games.
