I get this error "The wizard was interupted before EMC8 could be installed. Your system has not been modified run setup again" It starts with the installing software window then goes to this roxio screen every time. I have played with this thing several time in the last month. Help anyone? I have no other applications of any burning programs and not traces of roxio in my files.

Thanks smith2513

Try this:
a. Go to Start->Search
b. Click on All files and folders
c. Search for a file called msxmlx.inf
d. After search completed, right click on each file and select Properties
e. Uncheck Read-Only (if checked), click Apply and OK
f. Re-install EMC8
-Disable any antivirus/spyware programs during installation

Hi smith2513,
You may have your files and folder settings set to default, please open you file explorer and go to the tools\folder options tab and change the "show hidden files " item like show-in,
[attachment=321:attachment]
As this file is a INF file and normally they are set to hidden mode...
if you do the search after changing the settings, it should find it, then you may want to change that setting back to stop anyone from deleting system files...

I still come up with no file. I set up to search all drives and it searched about 20 minutes and nothing came up. Any other ideas?

Copy the contents of the Progam CD, to a folder on your hard drive, and try to run the installation from your hard drive.  It worked for many folks in Version 7 and 7.5 but have no clue whether or not it will work with 8.0.

I'm having the same issue.  It appears that the program loads fine at first.  The read me file loads, I get the desk top icon, then the installation wizard starts something called a rolling back action.  The green load bar is full and begins to decrease from right to left.  When the last green bar is remaining, the desk top icon disappears and I get the same message as above.

I have tried all of the issues listed above, but no luck.

I have a store bought copy.  Does anyone know if I can download the software from the website using the key code that came with the CDs without having to pay for the product again?

My system is as follows:
Microsoft Xp Home 2002 edition with service pack 2
amd- athlon Xp 3000+
2.17 ghz, 448 mb of RAM
153 gb with 112 gb free space

Thanks for any help.

I cannnot figure this one out. I have tried many things and I cannot get it to install. I have never had an issue installing anything on this computer. I cannot even past the "please wait setup is installing" it goes directly to the finished screen after about 20 seconds.  tried the hard drive thing with no luck also. I have had this product for a month now.

Hi Guys , just testing somthing here, can you do me a favour...
can you go and install this software below and then reboot and see if it makes a diference?

Windows Installer 3.1 (download here)
may be worthwhile downloading if you are experiencing installation problems.

Okay, I'll try.  I'll download the program and let you know.  I've been trading e-mails with roxio and they have given me the same things as above to try.  The one thing they had me do different was go to my msconfig file and turn off all of my start up programs.  This did not help either.

[
Still didn't work.  Two questions though.
1. If I hit cancel before the installation program starts the roll back action, would I be able to run the program?
2. Is it possible for me to download the software over the internet using my cd key to activate?

You can always contact Roxio Technical Support.   They normally do not charge for installation problems.

:)  Tried, seems like there's not enough time in the day to be on hold, this & working. Thanks
Has anybody had any success completing the installation?
