I’m finally getting the hang of using Creator 10 Suite but still some unresolved problems.  I’ve previously edited some DVD’s (conversions from 16mm home movies).  Whether I using VideoWave or MyDVD, when I try to “Add Photo/Video” to a new production the screen only displays four of the twelve video listed under “Home Movies.”  Yet, when I close Creator 10, go to My Computer, hit “Home Movies” I can see all twelve.  I can hit any one of the twelve and it launches Roxio and plays that particular video.  So, the edited videos are in my computer, in the right place but why can’t I access them when using VideoWave or MyDVD??
Thanks in advance for your time and interest…  Ed in snowy PA

What are the extensions on the 12 videos? Are they all the same?

The Videos that show up and allow me to add are (.mpg).  The (.dmsd), (.iso), and (.MSWMM) won't show up on either MYDVD or VideoWave.  I know the WSWMM - Microsoft is not compatible but what about the others.

Thanks.  Ed in PA

The .dmsd are MyDVD productions, I think.

The .iso files are 'image files' which contain the information for a DVD.

You can burn the .iso files and the My DVD productions to your hard drive and get .vob files that you can add to your production.

The .dmsd is not a video file.  It is a MyDVD file, and it should open in MyDVD, unless it was a .dmsd file made with DVD Builder in EMC 7 or 7.5.  The .iso file won't open in VideoWave, or MyDVD, because it is an image file.

I do not have EMC7 or 7.5.  I use your suggestions tomorrow.

You can open the WSWMM file using Windows Movie Maker and output (export) to a DV AVI or mpeg2 file which can then be loaded into Videowave or myDVD.

Thanks for the explanation about "MovieMaker."  My immediate concern is with the(.dmsd) extension.  When I edited a video and save it on MyDVD, I attempt to combine it with another edited (MyDVD) video and hit "Add Photo/Video" it doesn't show up.  In other words, I can't access the edited videos with an extension of (.dmsd).  And looking closely at the filter "Files of type" I don't see the extension (.dmsd).  So I'm confused as to why MyDVD is saving videos with the extension (.dmsd)>>>>>

Your advice is appreciated.   Thanks...Ed in PA

That's the way the program works.  My DVD allows you to add a slide show or a video to go along with the menu.  You cannot combine two My DVD files because the menus would clash. In that way, it is much like an ISO file; that cannot be edited either.

Use Video Wave to do all the editing.

ml already gave to information about how to retrieve the originals as VOB files.  You can edit those in VideoWave and then add what you want to a new project.

A file with an dmsd  (or dmsm for Videowave) is not a video file that can be played. It is simply a file containing the instruction for editing, adding audio or effects, etc to create your eventual video file or DVD. As such you cannot add dmsd file files since there is no video in the file. To create an actual video you use Videowave and select "Output as ..." and then select one of the many possible video formats. You don nat create a video file when you use "save" or "Save as"

That's a great explanation.  It make perfect sense.  I would never have figured that out by myself.

Walt, thanks for your patience and time.  Stay warm in Deep River.
