Since you used the word "session" I think you are using Creator Classic.  Make sure that you do not have read only checked when you go to burn.  You'll have to use the little drop down to see all the options.  You actually have to import the previous sessions then add to that.

The help menu is quite extensive.  It says, in part,:

Adding data to an appendable disc
If you have an existing data disc that was created with Creator Classic and the disc was not closed or recorded as a “Read-only Disc,” you can add additional data to the disc.

To add data to the disc:
In the Projects area, click Data Disc to start a new Data Disc project.
Insert the disc you want to add data to into your recorder.
Click Import Data from an append able disc.

The data on the disc is imported from the disc and added to the Project area.

Continue as you normally would when making a data disc. This includes adding files and folders to your project, and then burning your disc.

well now it is months later & I still do not know the answer.
I am using EasyMedia Creator9.
I have DVD+R discs
After burning a data disc I am unable to add to it.
I get a window saying something to the effect that my disc is not blank & to insert an appendable disc.
I have in the data project window the option checked that I want to be able to be able to use disc for more than one recording.
I am able to add data to these disc using windows burn.

Please help cause I can't use my program if I can only put a few photos etc on a disc & then not be able to add to it.

You have a stripped down Dell version of the software.  What sknis posted in Post #2, referenced Creator Classic.  You don't have it, in your OEM version.  You might consider upgrading to a full version of the Roxio software.

Yes I have tried post number2 many times & help & all kinds of variations. ( I don't have classic).it just won't work! I guess what I am now understanding is that my "stripped down version" is worthless? Why would I upgrade if what I have doesn't work??I have been falling bact to  using Windows to burn & without problems. I have again a email to support.Waiting to hear from them.Maybe this time I'll be able to resolve this.I'd like to be able to use Roxio.I had  probably a stripped down version on my last dell computer  & it worked fine. It is too bad .Do you think that because I have been falling back on Windows to burn  that this is interferring with Roxio? I use new blank disc with roxio so this shouldn't be a problem??Or is it? Once I burned a  new blank disc with roxio & when I went to check the disc on my computer it showed up with a Windows version with files to be burned & roxio hadn't burned at all even though it said it did.

You might want to try following and see if that helps. Would you also happen to know what version of Dell do you have it installed?

1. Update the firmware on your recorder drive
2. Test with a different brand /type of media if possible.

You can also do your testing on a DVD+/-RW disc so you're not wasting discs as you try different options.

Well I thought of gettin the rewrite discs but haven't done cause it works using Windows to burn & I bought a hugh stack of TDK DVD+R discs at costco. But I will certainly do every suggestion You all are so kind to give. I  am afraid though to use rewrites  discs cause I burn photos & digiscrapbooking stuff & would die if got overwritten. But I will give it a try.
I don't know how to update firmware on my  recorder drive. I can call dell.( Seems like a lot of trouble when I have Windows that works. I hate calling Dell-absolutely that is last resort!! would take up most of the day.lololol))
I'll try to add my computer info on my sig .Off to do that right now.

The idea for using the RW discs is only for testing.  Obviously, keep all your originals on your hard drive.  Once you have things working as you want, where you can add to a disc, then do that using a write-once disc.  So, you're right, you don't want to put your only copy of anything irreplaceable on an RW disc.  In fact, it's best to keep a second copy even if you're using "R" discs.

Since you don't have Creator Classic and you're using Data Disc from the menu have you gone to the options and tell it to allow more data to be added?
Down where the burn button is you should see options. When you go there make sure the radio button is on "I would like to use discs for more than 1 recording...."

Oops, sorry I see you said you do. blink.gif

Ok,I tried this in the Home app and it works just fine.I opened the Homeapp first, inserted an appendable disc, hit Load Disc and voila! there were my previous files and I was able to add and burn a new session.

In Vista be careful using the 2 file systems. The Live system is packet writing just like Drag to Disc in Roxio. This is not a recommended way to save Data. The Master system is useable to make a sessions based disc just like you're trying to do.

Have not received any replies from roxio via email or online ticket. That is very bad support since it has been several days now.

Since you can't append a disc and you can't copy a disc are you able to create any kind of disc and not get that message?
If not then the drive may be having a problem.

Yup ,can burn disc with Windows .Anyway, I got a hold of support through chat window & I got a engine upgrade zip to install & seems to be working now. I copied a disc with success. And can add to data disc. Some previous data disc I made  must have somehow finalized .( I think working between the two programs may have somehow done this)
I am on my way to using Roxio. Thanks to all your help:)I think going between two burn programs may be a bad thing to do .So I will stick with Roxio unless I have further problems.
I learned a few things through this process. One,I tried to copy a cd-rom disc to a dvd & this didn't work.Had to use a another cd disc to make copy. Two, if run into problem do not go back to windows but come here for support!!.Three ,burn my data more often so it isn't such a hugh task-- seems to be hard on roxio when it has too much to do..Four,really learn this Roxio program by reading these forums, help etc.this should help so i don't get so upset when i do run in a problem. I am off to find out more what I ca do with Roxio.
Thank you everyone for your kindness( & time) in trying to help me.

Well it is almost a year later & I have been making data disc without problem.I thought it would be great to be able to use easy archive but when using it does not make the disc appendable no matter what i do. I  recently tried support again but they say my program is no longer supported & to upgrade. I don't think I will do that because if the program I have doesn't work right ..... and I was unable to completely resolve the issue when it was supported....
As long as data disc works I am satisfied. If that stops I will use windows burn system. I have photoshop elements7 to burn photos  too & I think that program may have interferred with the whole business somehow.Cause that program no longer allows appendable disc either. This whole business is very confusing for a home non tech user.

You still have an OEM version of the software, and it was never supported by Roxio, only Dell.

Your version may not support making appendable discs, even if that option shows as being there.  That is by design.

Any full version, of the Roxio software, DOES support appendable discs, and that is why you need to upgrade.
