I like some of the ideas for motion menus demonstrated in MyMoments, particularly the one for Beatstreet, but I can't find any tutorials or how-tos that explain how to create them. Anybody have any advice?

Fairly easy....
Open MyDVD
Click on Change Menu Background
You can then select any video file and that becomes the menu background
Just remember that the menu will be rendered like any other video and takes up space so keeping the menu short will allow more room for your movie. There might be a length limit. I added one that was about 3min, but haven't tried anything longer than that.

Thanks, and I feel like an idiot. I didn't realize the menus had their own motions, I thought I was going to have to find a way to add it myself. Not that I would have been able to do that, being an idiot and all.

You can also edit that background just like any other video, too. I don't know of ANY other consumer app that will let you do that. See below
Click the Edit Background Icon
This takes you to an embedded Videowave with the background video loaded and ready to edit. You can then cut/split, add transitions or overlays and video effects just like any other video.
Click BACK TO MENU above the preview when done will take you back to MyDVD preview mode.
