[i]When I'm ready to burn, and hit the BURN key, i get:  "Decoding preview"  the complete video runs, but nothing happens with the burner. It does not burn. I have burners on my system which work perfectly.  I also just upgraded by video card..  it used to work a month ago, now it does not.  I just downloaded the DVD10 version, and it's no better.  Can some help.  you can email me any information at:   quinn at videotron dot ca

I guess the obvious question is, how did you get your Edius 4 project to load into MydVD?  Whatever file it is, may be the problem.

After the production inEdius 4.0, I save it as a .avi file, then simply drag/drop into DVD10.  and, that's where it only does the :Decoding preview: and does not burn.

any ideas why.....  Gordie

Decoding or encoding?  Are you following these instructions (10-21)?  Copy and Convert has replaced Disc Copier ?

Why are you using a $80 program to burn a disc made with a $ 700-1000 program?

How much video time are you trying to put onto a DVD?  You can put 1 hour on a single sided DVD at best quality; almost 2 hours at reduced quality.  Double that for DL discs.

What type of AVI?  AVI is a just a container and may use many types of compression. DV AVI, DivX and Quicktime are the most common that can use the AVI extension.  Make sure you are exporting to DV AVI in Edius or better yet, a DVD compliant MPEG 2 with AC3 stereo audio.  MyDVD 10 WILL NOT re-render a DVD compliant MPEG 2!

The only time MyDVD will try to re-render a MPEG 2 is if it doesn't fit OR the bitrate is below 3Mbps.  MyDVD does not support bitrates below that.

With Edius 4.0, I can burn DVDs, however, thye program does not allow for chapters, etc.  That's why I use myDVD10.
now, for some reason, yestrday, it works, so I hope it will stay functional.  Aftfer the ::: ENCODING PREVIEW ::: which is the length of the 45 minute video, it then burned onto my DVD, with nice opening background, and all the chapters show.

I guess maybe I was a little impatient once I downloaded DVD10.

-------back to your comment:   why am I using an $80. program to burn a disc made with a $1000. program. ?  what would you suggest ???

tks for your information.. as of yesterday, the program no works perfectly.  after the ::encoding preview:: it burned nicely to my DVD, withy the backkground, music, chapters, etc.  the project is 45 minutes.

Thanks for your reply.
