go to a certain website and enter your CD code AND the 25 Digit product key listed in orange on the CD sleeve.
I bought version 9 through Digital River and there is no such code. Just a CD key.
How are you supposed to activate manually when they gave you only a CD code and no 25 Digit product key listed in orange?

Hmmm?? I beg to differ: Here is the manual activation instruction:
Manual Activation Instructions:
If this fails, then you have to option to manually activate your product, but still requires a connection to the internet.
1) Close Easy Media Creator 9.
2) Disconnect your computer from the internet. The easiest way is to turn off your modem or disconnect the cable from the back of your computer.
3) Re-launch Easy Media Creator 9 and the application that needs to be activated.
4) Activation will fail, but this time, choose to Activate Offline.
5) In the Offline Product Activation window, copy the product 25 Digit product key listed in orange. Do not close this window.
6) Turn on your modem or reconnect to the internet.
7) Go to http://activation.roxio.com/activateme and follow the on-screen instructions. This will generate an Activation Code that you must copy.
8) Go back to the Offline Product Activation window and enter the Activation Code into the boxes.
See step 5. you need to copy the product 25 digit key into the window. There is no such key given with the Digitial River CDs and there is no code given by the Offline Product Activation window either. The Product Key field is empty.
Thanks

I am having the exact same problem. There is no 25 digit activation key that shows up in the activation window to use on the activation site. This must be a bug in the program. I even tried selecting all of the text in that window in case it was a font problem. I pasted it into a word document. There is no key there to use. For some reason the program is not giving it out.

I have a ticket in.
I was reading abouthis problem in other places and it is evidently growing. It has something to do with the MPEG2 encoder install. Once you install that software you have to re-install Roxio for some reason the third party software combined with Roxio Software Activation is not working properly. All of the other people I read on this topic have had no help what-so-ever from Roxio on it. It must be a new problem they have not worked out a fix for yet. I thought it was just the update to 9.1.

The pinned solution is NOT a solution for me, because of the title of this topic - that Offline Activate window just gives a blank
(no code, no nothing) for "product key:" - so I can't get a product key with which to get the activation code to get the mpeg-2
activated. Since I bought on-line, I only have a CD Key, no product key.
Really really frustrating. Is there another way to find out my product key?

I did get a response, but it was just to do a "clean install" which I had already done...
If you ask me, there are a lot of variations on "clean install", so I went for broke, so to speak...
I followed the KB note on clean install, removing the software, getting rid of the registry entries. I searched my whole
hard disk for anything "sonic" or "roxio" and deleted it all. I also deleted all my other multimedia software (Nero).
I also ran a registry cleaner (on a 1 month old PC :^) )
Then I reinstalled EMC - which worked. The I put my other software back. Which also seems to have worked.
I'm guessing I just had a "perfect storm" of activity to make this happen. Didn't delete Dell's original crippled Roxio sw well
enough, then added other software with codecs, etc. But still - a major pain.
Also, since the mpeg2 codec was activated, I was never asked for my product key, so I STILL don't know anything
other than my Digital river CD Key.
