With EMC 10 Convert & Copy, I compiled 5 AVI movies of 45 mins. each into a DVD image file. It took more than 8 hours to finish.
Can anyone tell me if it is normal? and if not, what shall I do to improve?  Appreciate any advice.

Compaq Presario 6470
WinXP Pro 2002 SP2
ATI Radeon 9000 series
1.50 Gb RAM

FIVE movies of 45 mins. each?  That's almost 4 hours of movies that the program has to encode and compress to fit on a 4.7 Gb DVD that usually holds one hour of 'best' quality movies.

Depending on the processor in the Presario, that might be a normal time to encode.   On my older computer with a P4, I'd set it to work overnight while I grabbed some zzz's.

To Allan,

Yes, it can certainly take a long time, based on my experience.  So get all your stuff ready to convert, finish using your computer for other things, start the program, follow ml's advice and get a good night's sleep.  sleep.gif
