I have a question regarding DVD burning using EMC 10.  I am burning a movie from my hard drive  (file AVI 700 MB) onto a DVD. It is taking quite a long time (4-5+ Hrs).  Using my old Sonic Burning software it would only take half the time. Someone told me the longer the burn takes the better the quality of the DVD burn.   Any advice?

The 4-5 hours is encoding the AVI file to mpg 2 DVD compliant Video file. Your old Sonic software would have to do the same file to compare time! Save your work to a Video_ts folder set or Image file. Then use Video Copy and Convert to burn them to a disc.
