I've looked at a few pages of posts and I think I'm the only person this lost.
I am trying to create a DVD.

I have one avi movie that is a little more than 17.5 GB (1hr 27min)
Including an intro.
I divided this movie 8 Chapter-Scenes plus an intro. I thought maybe I could link these to make the full length movie but don’t know how or if Ican do this, so here is what I did.
I made an intro, I used the complete 17+GB video, and I also added 7 of the 8 chapters leaving one out on purpose.
So I have:

Intro
Movie
Chapters-Scenes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
this adds up to nearly 34GB

I know there has to be a better way,.
Thanks,

Can you explain what do you mean by divided? You created 8 video files out of the movie?

You can just bring in the main movie to vdieowave and do your editing. Then save the Videowave production. Open MyDVD and bring in the Videowave production. Right click the tile and select Edit Chapter. That's where you want to create chapters.

Hello malatekid,
What I did was to cut a copy of my 1hr 27min avi video into 8 small avi’s, assigned numbers to all the videos including the 1hr 27min movie, in the order I wanted them in the menu and did the add new movie.

I was trying to figure this all out as quickly as I could and this seem to be a logical way to do it. I realized not so after I ended up with such a large video.

My next guess is that there must be a way to link from the menu icon to a point in movie where you want a particular part of the movie to play?
I know this may not be the most effective way, but I have very little time (like everyone).

I am attending college 38 years after high school and it’s all I can do to keep up with that. I’m trying to get this figured out as quickly as I can but I’ve been spinning my wheels a bit.
Thanks,

There is no need to create separate video files from your original clip. All you need is your original movie clip.

Take a look at this excellent tutorial. Also, this pinned post is another way to create chapters.

Hey malatekid,

It’s been a while but I wanted to say thanks for the info.

I checked the links and did get time earlier to re-render my videos again as mp2’s instead of the AVI’s I was trying to use. The mp2’s fixed one of my other questions about 16:9 format, so at least I don’t have to worry about that now.

I hope to finally get back on my DVD this weekend and use the information to finish the project.

Thanks grandpabruce for the kudos. I got my GED about 16 years ago and just started school a little over one year ago.
Seems I’m not only slow with DVD’s.

Thanks again,
