Why not list your system specs and video card model, for the video card in XP right click the desktop, properties, settings tab, at the bottom advanced, adapter tab.

Sounds like your video card isn't hefty enough. Do you have onboard video? Please post back with all your computer info specifically the video side.

How would I know if I have onboard video? Where would I find my "computer info" on the video side? I have mobile intel express chip set.

That's an onboard chipset - unless you have a laptop (in which case you are stuck up a gum tree) you would be advised to install a dedicated graphics card - either PCIe or AGP, depending on the slots on the board
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I;m afraid you're stuck - that chipset just doesn't have the wherewithal to run any heavy graphics

All you might be able to do is to ensure everything else is shut down and also set the performance options in control panel, system for 'best performance' and see if that helps (drop any fancy desktop, mouse pointers and so on - they eat the limited resources you have
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
