Although the new LCD monitors have a 1280 x 720 resolution, MyDVD Basic v9, coming with a new computer, asks for a 1024 x 768 resolution that distorts the presentation. How to update the MyDVD to solve this problem?

You must be connected via VGA cable, then.  The minimum resolution, for your OEM (stripped down, free version) MyDVD Basic 9, is like the full version.  The minimum resolution has to be 1024x768.  Your problem is your monitor, video card/chip, or a combination of the two, not the software.

If you can set it higher than your 1280x720 resolution, do so.
