I'm hoping that this is the right place for this topic. I have been having various problems with this downloadable software but right now I'm concerned with the MusicID service. The commercial CDs that I'm trying to rip or convert are not being recognized by Roxio. I had version 9 before and did'nt have any problems. Now I am having to manually input CD info. Can anyone offer any advice on this. I have checked to make sure that info is being imbedded but even loading a CD into the sound editor does nothing. All tracks are listed as: track 1, track 2, etc. Do I need to manually set this option somewhere. Old version did it automatically. Thanks

Press F1 and have a look at the Help system.

It says
QUOTE
An option setting is available on the General > Internet options panel that allows you to download song information from Gracenote automatically over the Internet each time you insert an audio CD into a drive.

There's lots more in there too. smile.gif

Tried looking into that, doesn't help. My CDs aren't being recognized when I work in Sound Editor or Disc Ripping Apps. The CD is listed as unknown and the tracks are listed as Track 1, Track 2 etc. When I click on the CD Properties Button, the "Lookup CD Titles On Internet" option is unchecked and "Automatic Audio Disc Information Download" option is checked. I try clicking on the unchecked option but it does nothing. Is there anything I need to do to make the automatic CD recognition work. It worked fine on my older version of Roxio. It automatically listed album and titles.

Hi,

I can't find the CD Properties Button you speak of which gives the two options "Lookup CD Titles On Internet" and "Automatic Audio Disc Information Download". Can you describe in some detail how I can get to it, please.

In the meantime, the apparent master control they're talking about in the help system seems to be this one -
In Easy Audio CD, go to the top toolbar, Tools > Options > General > Internet and check the box I've circled.
tools_options.jpg

(1) How do I get to that screen you mention?
(2) Does the box I've pointed out change things for you?

I think the solution you provided is the answer except that option is not coming up when I open the options window, under General, I have only the choice of Advanced. There is no Internet choice. Any ideas why? Oh and the CD Properties button is in the Media Selector window. In any of the apps that allow you to Add Media, the Media Selector window opens. The button appears in the top left area of the window.

This is getting a bit perplexing, isn't it? You say there's no "Internet" button under General, in your options? blink.gif
Are all the other buttons - the three under Audio, one under Data and Backup, and none under Copy - all showing like in my screenshot?

Is there a 'Restore Defaults' button down at the lower right corner of the options box, and does it have any effect? [just to cover all bases]

What actual version and build of EMC 10 are you using? [Go to Help > About this software and tell me the first three lines, Name:, Version:, Build: please?] I'm trying to work out why mine has it but not yours.

I found your button for CD information in Music Disc Creator - it's called "Internet CD Title Database", and mine seems to show the same as yours. There's only one settings box that's checkable, the other two lines there are instant commands rather than settings. I don't suppose clicking the top line with a CD in the drive brings you any joy? Well, it was worth trying. sad.gif

I made the first shot with that box in the General\Internet Options unchecked. Then I went and checked that "Enable audio disc information download" box in General\Internet options.

media_selector_info.jpg

When I restarted Music Disc Creator there was a flash of the Gracenote logo in the upper left of my monitor, and I got the second shot.

media_selector_info_2.jpg

Now that's all as it should be I think, since it seems to be working right. Now we have to concentrate on why you don't have an Internet button under General in Options.

The two things I need now are (1) are all the other buttons there in that options box so it looks exactly like mine except for the missing Internet button?  (2) The name/Version/Build information, please.

Yes, all other boxes appear as yours do, except for the internet selection. Clicking on the Restore Defaults didn't do anything. The info you requested are as follows:

Is it possible that your firewall is blocking the communication to the CDDB (Gracenote) database?

I have disabled my firewall but no improvement. Could I have missed something in the download? I have downloaded this program three times. The first time it took forever! So, I stopped it inadvertently in the middle, deleted everything and tried again. The second time went alot faster. But the applications (Sound Editor, Audio Tag Editor, Conversion App) took a long time to load. So, I removed it once again disabled my firewall and downloaded. Now the Apps load as they should. My problem with Gracenote access has remained constant. I am willing to try whatever I can. I am about to request a refund and try another program altogether but I loved my older version of Roxio.

We'll keep looking for the cause of the problem - well, I'll keep prodding it anyway smile.gif - but in the meantime keep an eye on the date. I think they only allow you 30 days to request a refund.

I just resolved this issue on my computer. To start out with some details, unfortunately I am running Vista :(
There is only one thing that I did right B/4 the Gracenote stopped working on my Easy Media Creator 10 & that is I had just changed my Auto Play settings to use Easy Media Creator 10 as my default ripper.
After the Gracenote failure I tried numerous times to unistall & reinstall the Easy Media Creator 10. No success.
To resolve this issue, I followed all the instructions in the following link,
http://kb.roxio.com/...00127CR&PARAMS= to completely remove the program. Then I change the Auto Play settings back to the default settings to use the Windows Media Player to rip new CD's.
The next time I installed the complete version of Easy Media Creator 10, SUCCESS! Gracenote Works :)
