I have completed my project and it is ready to burn to DVD in both MyDVD-Express and MyDVD. However, when I go to burn it to disc, it keeps telling me that there is no disc in my DVD-Writer drive.

I have used 3 different types of DVD-R (all brand new and blank) to force it to write to an apparently non-existent disc but it will not play on any DVD player.

They won't even play in Roxio!

I really don't know what to do - I have exhausted all options and help.

Please help.

Hi,

Thanks for the download but it didn't fix the problem.

My PC recognises that there is a disc in the drive but when I click 'burn' in MyDVD it says the drive is empty.

Anybody?

Post your drive and firmware version. What brand, type, and speed of DVD media are you using?

To identify your drive in XP. Right click my computer and click properties. The system properties window opens, click the Hardware tab and then click device manager. The Device Manager Window opens, from the top view, make sure a dot is next to view devices by type. Click the + next to DVD/CD-Rom Drives, post what it reads?

For the firmware version, right click the drive/s and click properties, click the details tab. It should show, example mine IDECDROMBENQ_DVD_DD_DW1640_______________BSRB_____. The # where my BSRB is, is what we need you to post with the drive model/name.

Anybody?

Exactly how does MyDVD tell you the drive is empty? What are the exact words or indicators it shows you, please?

IDE\CDROMHP_DVD_WRITER_300N__________3.10_______\5&265FBC54&0&0.1.0

I'm guessing you're asking for the bit where it says 3.10.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is what it says in the box when I click burn (when I put the disc in, it tells me the drive is empty)

E:\HP DVD Writer 300n 3.10

Drive is empty

Capacity of current disc: 0.0Mb
Estimated size of project: 1244.3Mb

I have tried 3 types of DVD-R:

Sony - DVD-R Ver.2.0/1X-8X 120min 4.7Gb
Verbatim - DVD-R 16X 120min 4.7Gb
Bulkpaq - DVD-R 4X 4.7Gb

Go click here. Scroll down to 'DVD300 internal drive' is this your DVD burner? If so HP says it's a 4X +R only burner. The disc's you listed above are -R media. Borrow a +R from a friend, come back and tell us if that helps?
