The main question i have is:  can the 8.05 patch be applied to any EMC 8?  or should it only be applied to the specific build (800B85C) that they mention?

I have windows xp, fully updated, pentium 4 3.0 ghz, 2 gigs of ram,

I am having several problems since installing, The MyDVD program is VERY slow...if i click on a thumbnail and try to change the picture...it takes like 45 seconds after right-clicking on the thumbnail to change the picture.  Also, it took 3 hours to burn a dvd with about 60 minutes of video...i don't think that is right.  My computer also rebooted several times. I didn't get any error messages or blue screens...a few times it happened while i was working in MyDVD...the system would freeze up and reboot. sometimes it would freeze up and i would have to do a hard reboot.  And..a few times it rebooted when the computer was at idle...i only knew it rebooted because i heard the beep and the sound of windows restarting from the other room.  So far it hasn't rebooted on it's own in about 36 hours.

And one last thing. I have Tivo and I transferred a few programs over to my hard drive...and now i can't watch them in WMP 10...i can only hear the audio..I am not sure if this is an EMC 8 issue...but i know it was supposed to come with a Tivo-compatible mpeg-2 decoder.  I show that the decoder is installed and i am able to burn Tivo shows to DVD with no problem.  Is it possible that WMP 10 can't use the decoder?

any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately the information you posted does not identify your build (version).  Open and of the programs (like Video Wave) and about the fourth line down, there is a build number.  If it is 800 then the patch might apply.  Did you get an automatic notice?

If you have downloaded the program, the patch will not work for you.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

All of those are HOME appplications which have different version numbers. Launch MyDVD, select HELP/ABOUT for the correct version.

Windows Media Player 10 has digital rights management. If you are trying to play TIVO files directly, it may be recognizing any DRM that may be embedded in the file. I know they were having difficulty importing TIVO files in MyDVD, but updating the TIVO to Go software (v2.2?) helped. Perhaps someone else can verify that.
